Golden Winter Days

Got a quick start this morning with breakfast and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Adora tries to "Remember" when she wakes up in the Fright Zone, working with the Horde again. Something is seriously screwy as people vanish without notice and she keeps jumping around. She and Scorpia are the only ones who remember what really happened. Catra regains her memories too, but she'd rather attack Adora to keep things the way they are. It's Madam Razz who finally sends Adora off on the path to find her friends and figure out what's truly going on here.

Hurried out shortly after the episode ended. I just missed getting there on time. That was the worst thing that happened today. The Acme was quiet all morning. I barely needed to do carts. Not only are we between holidays, but it was a gorgeous day. Though it remained windy, the sun was shining and it was much warmer, probably in the 50's. I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

When I got home, I changed, then put on Remember WENN while eating lunch. Thought I'd start the year re-watching this series again, beginning with the very first episode "On the Air." Betty Roberts (Amanda Naughton) arrives at Pittsburgh from Indiana, having won a contest with her writing. Erudite station manager Victor Comstock (John Bedford Lloyd) isn't impressed, until a scene from her play saves a broadcast.

Victor begins WENN's very first talk radio show in "Klondike 9366." We're also introduced to Ceila Mellon (Dina Spebey), the bubbly new blonde actress who seems to be connected to the wealthy Mellon family. Jeff's (Hugh O'Gorman) smitten at first, until Ceila realizes he's married to diva actress Hilary Booth (Melinda Mullins). Ceila and Jeff are tapped for the show that night, along with character actor Mackie Bloom (Christopher Murney). There's a lot of crossed wires and yelling, and it looks like the show might be a bust, until they help a young boy alone at home.

Hurried out to the school before the episode ended. Thank heavens it was such a lovely day! The kids had a great time running around the playground and wiggling around to children's dance songs and the soundtrack from KPop Demon Hunters, and I had a great time watching them and keeping them from fighting on the swings. Considering how noisy they all were in the bathrooms today, they needed to get out. When we went back in, I read them Time to Sleep, about animals telling each other winter was on the way, then they all played with blocks and colored. I colored a picture of a sleeping puppy and sharpened colored pencils for them.

Put on the remaining two Remember WENN episodes when I got home. Victor and Betty are caught between "A Rock and a Soft Place" when Mr. Acton of Acton Anthracite Coal insists on having a slam-bang new action show, and Mrs. Mellon of the Pittsburgh Public Library starts complaining about the violence level on their shows. They turn to the Bard himself to make both sponsors happy. Meanwhile, Celia keeps trying to avoid the woman everyone assumes is her mother.

"There but for Grace" introduces the first of three Broadway divas who appeared on the show. Stage star Grace Cavendish (Patti LuPone) comes to the station via a Goodwill tour. Hilary thinks she's come to steal her thunder, but she's really there to see Victor and try to rekindle their relationship.

Switched to Match Game Syndicated next during dinner. Country star Bill Anderson proudly showed off a picture of his new baby boy. Bart Braverman was more interested in flirting with contestants, while Charles deflects hair questions.

Finished the night with Murder She Wrote. A cop who has "Unfinished Business" insists on gathering all the suspects from his one unsolved murder case together at a remote lake resort. Jessica joins her friend Seth, who is worried that he may be implicated in the murder from a decade ago. A young wife (Erin Moran) is horrified when her husband turns up dead in a cabin, but he may or may not have been the intended victim.
