Rain, Rain, Go Away

I was up way too late last night. By the time I finally got moving and grabbed something quick, I didn't have the time for much of anything. Jumped on the bike and hurried off to the Westmont Plaza to meet Bryanna for brunch at the Westmont Bagel Shop.

It was surprisingly busy over there for around 11:30. She had a thick sandwich and I had my favorite spinach and feta omelet with blueberry French toast bagels and hash browns. I had a lot to report. I couldn't be happier. The kids are hilarious and the people I'm working with are nice. Even if I'm only there a month and can't get an opening on the summer camp program, at least I know I can get some kind of a job, even just a short one, and have the training for something besides pushing carts or sitting behind a desk. (In fact, I'm not even sure I want to sit behind a desk anymore. I do that enough at home.)

Jumped over to Sprouts really quick after brunch. Mostly needed coconut milk and dried fruit - got apricots this week. Found peanut butter cookies on clearance and Culture Pop soda on a buy one, get one half-off sale. They still have blood oranges. I won't make it to the farm market this week, so I was more than happy to grab a bag.

Rushed home after that. I had time to look over my writing online and watch more of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. We introduce Madame "Razz" when Glimmer takes Adora to Bright Moon, hoping to introduce her to her mother Queen Angella. She can't seem to figure out how to transform again, though one of her attempts does end up inadvertently creating her flying horse Swift Wind. After guards mistake her for a member of the Horde and chase her out of Bright Moon, she ends up picking berries with eccentric Razz. The odd old lady calls her "Mara" and gives out odd advice. Adora finally figures out what she means when she has to rescue Swift Wind from Horde soldiers.

Though it was supposed to have rained all day, by quarter after 2, it was merely cloudy and very humid. I called Uber anyway, just in case. The driver going to Thomas Sharp School arrived in 6 minutes. The one going home took almost 20, but in his defense, it was the height of rush hour.

I did have some trouble early-on with some of the boys jumping on each other, and one of the girls got upset over someone taking a dinosaur. I played dinosaur with the young lady, and she felt better, then separated the boys. Thank heavens the weather held this time and the kids were allowed to go outside. They all got to shake their sillies out and wear themselves out running all over the playground. In fact, it briefly got sunny while we were watching them run around. When we got back in, they were generally attentive listeners for a Thomas the Tank Engine book and the book from the old book-and-cassette version of the Disney 101 Dalmatians. Two more kids even gave me their artwork after I drew with them.

Finished the night with dinner and The Great Waltz. I go further into the sumptuous but stale 1972 version of the life of Johann Strauss II at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
