In the Cool of the Late Summer

Began the morning with breakfast and Alice's Wonderland Bakery. The Cheshire Cat is happy to be "The Sweetest Friend Indeed" who hands around syrup from his own tree to his friends. When the tree goes dry, he gets nervous that everyone will stop coming and makes up riddles to stall everyone. The kids finally tell Cat that they like him, not just his syrup. Chamomile the Doormouse, also known as Cam, keeps Hattie and the kids on track...but he takes off after Hattie accuses him of getting in the way. They say "Hats Off to Cam" when they end up searching Wonderland for him.

Rushed off to work after that. Work was a lot less trouble than it has been the past few weeks. In fact, we were quiet the entire morning. I spent a cloudy, cool morning sweeping and gathering carts with no trouble whatsoever. Picked up granola and cookies during break, so I had the time to stop on the way home to grab pretzels and a stuffed cheese steak pretzel for lunch.

Ate lunch while watching Paw Patrol. "Pups Save a Baby Octopus" introduces the Sea Patrol. Each pup has to swim to earn their lifeguard badge, but Rocky hates water and won't go in. He has to rethink his feelings on the water when an octopus first attacks Cap'n Turnbot's ship and sinks it, then the Sea Patroller. The pups have to find the reason the octopus went after them and keep the beach clear while they deal with it.

Put on Storybook International as I got organized. "The Enchanted King" is a young Spanish king bound by fairies who keep him dancing and partying forever. A good, hardworking peasant girl must wander for three years to find the grandmother fairy and ask her how to release the spell.

Headed out to Thomas Sharp School after the show ended. We had a lot more kids today, more than 30, and they were all full of energy. We really had a hard time getting them to pay attention in the halls and at the bathrooms. Could explain why they were so energetic outside. I chased the most adorable young lady, pretending to be a shark after her. Her laughter was delightful, and it was the most fun I'd had in ages.

Went straight into Pardners when I got home. I go further into this western spoof with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.

Put on Match Game Syndicated when the show ended. They're still on 1976 PM episodes. Avery Schriberer joined in here, along with the dry-witted Nancy Kulp. Nancy was on her only week, which was too bad. I'm not sure how much she enjoyed herself, but she played very well.

Ended the night listening to two Betty Grable soundtracks. The Canadian-set Springtime In the Rockies introduced the hit ballad "I Had the Craziest Dream." I also like the adorable "Run Little Raindrop Run" for Betty Grable and John Payne. The historically-set Sweet Rosie O'Grady mostly features songs from the 1890's time period (including the title number), but did have another popular ballad in "My Heart Tells Me." Robert Young joins Grable for "Two Little Girls In Blue."
