Busy Day In the Sun

Slept in this morning, then got a late start with breakfast and What's New, Scooby Doo? Skipped the first episode (which I have elsewhere) and started off with "3-D Struction." Daphne's uncle invites Mystery Inc to the opening of a museum exhibit on dinosaurs in Central America. Fred's just thrilled to meet his idol Melbourne O'Reilly, who catches crocodiles and other animals...but even O'Reilly can't corral the huge dinosaur spirit that pops out of the museum's 3-D movie! The kids have to figure out who wants the museum to shut down...and if that's really fool's gold Shaggy found in the abandoned mine shafts.

Briefly ran Classic Concentration while making my grocery list and reorganizing the three bags for Goodwill into two bags. The lady managed to beat the guy fairly easily, getting far more prizes than him and using a red take to pick up one more. She didn't have nearly as much luck with the match the car bonus round, though.

Called Uber after the show went to commercial. There was no way I'd be able to carry those overstuffed bags to Goodwill on my bike. The driver took 9 minutes, but at least he was really cool about taking me around the back of the mall buildings so I could drop the bags in the bins behind Goodwill.

After I left the bags in the bins, I walked across the Audubon Crossings parking lot and down to the Acme, enjoying the warm, sunny, and breezy weather. Figured I'd shop at the Audubon Acme and get my schedule, since I was already there. In good news, more hours next week, none of them longer than the regular 5-6 hours. The head bagger wanted Friday off this time, and she's in the floral department Saturday.

I was mainly there to restock yogurt, cookies, and oranges. Had online coupons for mouthwash, cards, and 4-packs of Dannon yogurt. My friend Kelly's birthday was today. Mom's is the first day of spring. I got her a gift card. In addition to Slice and Poppi on sale, I wanted to try another new brand of probiotic soda, Cove. I'd never seen ice pop-flavored soda before.

Once again, I called Uber to get me home. Considering it was past quarter of 2 by that point, I have no idea why I had such a hard time getting a driver. The first one said they'd be there in eleven minutes, then canceled after two minutes. The second finally came in nine minutes. Thankfully, there was no traffic or trouble getting home.

Went upstairs, put everything away, then grabbed my bike and headed out again. It was almost 3:30 by the time I finally made it out, but I was hungry and wanted lunch. Had a Mixed Berry Waffle at the Westmont Diner. It was huge, almost bigger than the plate, and covered in tons of strawberries, blueberries, and Melba sauce. It was sweet and delicious, but too big for me to finish.

Next stop was Sprouts. I really regret having taken so long to get over there. Dodged a lot of kids coming home from the junior high and two high schools within walking distance of the Westmont Plaza. Thankfully, most kids aren't interested in Sprouts. They don't carry toys or seasonal items unless it's Christmas, and even then, they don't have a lot. I bought golden raisins (which were on sale), bananas, coconut milk, two boxes of the Olyra breakfast cookies (also on sale), two cans of Poppi soda, and one of Zevia ginger root beer.

Finished out Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars when I got home, beginning with episode 9, "Symbol of Death." Even when Happy helps Flash barely dodge the Forest People's disintegrating light, there's still a lot of trouble going down on the Red Planet. Azura first causes Flash to lose his memory, then loses the black sapphire containing her magic to Ming's assistants. Ming himself tries to use Flash as a hostage to get off Mars, but ends up under that infamous disintegrating light himself.

While the first is probably still the best, I'm going to say all of the Flash Gordon serials are of interest if you're a fan of vintage sci-fi or are a serial enthusiast like me.

Finished the night with Riverdance: The Animated Adventure on Netflix. I'll go further into that one tomorrow on my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
