Frightening Harts

Began the day with breakfast and What's New, Scooby Doo? The show is flipped on its ear when Shaggy goes "A Terrifying Round With a Menacing Metallic Clown" who may shut down the mini-golf tournament he's close to winning. He's the one leading the investigation, while Velma, who is deathly afraid of clowns, spends the episode eating cotton candy with Scooby. (Look for a homage to A Pup Named Scooby Doo in the brief flashback sequence early in this episode.)

Watched the tail end of Supermarket Sweep while getting organized. They were just finishing the Big Sweep as I came in. This was absolutely a later episode. David Ruprecht wore weird ties and had silver in his hair, and the totals were much, much higher. The winners got by far the highest score, and were able to win the bonus round with time to spare, too.

Hurried out to go grocery shopping after the show ended. I decided to save time and cut this week's trip down to just the Acme. Thankfully, they weren't busy at all when I arrived, despite it being past 12:30. Needed to restock coconut milk, yogurt, soda, granola bars, and fruit. Apples and grapes were on really good sales, too. Grabbed pumpkin muffins for lunch.

Ate lunch while watching Hart to Hart. The Harts get down and dirty with "Night Terrors" when a friend of his invites them to their house. They have to figure out what's going on with this house of horrors when first guests vanish, then one dies, seemingly taking the jewels mentioned with them.

Got my schedule at this point. In good news, Saturday and Wednesday are 4 hour and early. Bad news is I have another 7 hour day next Saturday. I really wish they'd start letting the head bagger do her job on Saturday instead of cashiering!

Hurried to the Thomas Sharp School as the episode ended. I arrived as the kids were starting their snack time. Pretty much the same deal today as it was yesterday. They were a bit rowdy in the halls, but got out their sillies when outside. They also all looked wonderful, the boys in jeans, sweaters, and good shirts, the girls in dresses and good skirts. Apparently, today was their School Picture Day.

Went straight home after work this time. Watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when I got in. "Mickey's Mystery" parodies Indiana Jones and other globe-trotting adventure-mysteries. Kansas City Mickey and his friends search the globe for the statue that will allow them to discover what's going on with an ancient temple.

Put on Match Game '76 during dinner. Lee Merriweather got mischievous during the episodes I watched and rolled down Gene's pant legs. George Kennedy did better helping the contestant out with their answers. Patty Duke joined cool cat Clifton Davis and super-sweet Joyce Builifant the next week.

Switched to the dark animated fantasy action drama Once Upon a Forest next. I'll go further into this environmental fable from 1993 tomorrow.

Worked on Maplepunzel while I watched the movie. Maple grabs the tray of coffee and lunch in the hope of getting to Victor. This time, her gambit works. She's able to talk to him and not only convince the blinded prince that she's his true fiancee, but show him that the coffee is drugged. Furious at being taken advantage of and at Pavla drugging the castle, Victor readily agrees to help figure out what to do about Abernathy and Brumpton.

Finished the night with a trio of classic albums by Harry Connick Jr. He cranked out jazz albums in the early 90s like 20. That's my favorite of the three of these, with classic songs like "Imagination," "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans," and "If I Only Had a Brain." 25's best number is it's opening song, "Stardust." We also get "Lazybones" and a pointed "I'm an Old Cowhand." 30 gives us two more New Orleans songs - "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans" and "New Orleans" - along with "Somewhere My Love," "If I Were a Bell," and "Don't Fence Me In."
