Spent most of the morning sweeping and pushing carts, and I don't think I would have wanted to be anywhere else. The weather was gorgeous today, sunny, breezy, and cool, in the mid-50's. I did have to put away a full cart of heavy cold items, but otherwise, there wasn't a whole lot going on. I suspect most people will probably wait for Veteran's Day Weekend to do their shopping.
It wasn't even busy on Nicholson when I took the long way home. There were some cars around the entrance to the shopping center, and that was it. Not even the White Horse Pike was all that bad. I didn't even see anyone checking out the fall foliage.
When I got home, I had lunch while watching Scooby and Scrappy Doo. This is really more of a blanket series that features the first season from 1979 with the entire gang, the shorts made with Shaggy, Scrappy, and Scooby from 1979 through 1982, and the first season with the three of them and Daphne in 1983. That last one usually consisted of one regular "kids solve mystery" episode and one Scooby spoof of whatever pop culture phenomenon was big in 1983 that may or may not have a mystery involved.
I went with one of the Shaggy-Daphne-dogs episodes. "The Mark of Scooby" turns Scoob and Scrappy into Zorro-esque heroes when Scooby dreams that they rescue Shaggy and Daphne from the greedy El Commendate in Old California. "The Crazy Carnival Caper" is a more conventional mystery. Shaggy and Daphne take the dogs to their old high school carnival, only to stumble into a mystery when a grouchy science teacher disappears after being in the dunk tank, along with a priceless ruby he was using for an experiment. The kids dodge a scary clown while trying to figure out what happened to him and the ruby.
After Scooby ended, I went down for a nap. I got up early this morning, was up later than I should have been last night, and have worked earlier than I'm used to a lot more often. Besides, my bed just felt so warm on a cold day. I fell asleep around 3:30 and didn't get up until past 5:30.
Worked on writing for a while after I rolled out of bed. Cora doesn't like dealing with nobility. She wouldn't mind so much if Stephen didn't spend most of his time flattering and manipulating all the foreign dignitaries who come calling. She's even less fond of how he favors wealthy merchants who can contribute to his carousing over peasants whose story he never even listens to. She heard he was fair-minded, but he never gives them a real trial.
Broke for dinner and Match Game '79 at 7 PM. The Kukla-Ollie week was one of the best of the year. Too bad not only did they never come back, but they never had guests quite like them again. There would be ventriloquist and dummy acts on the syndicated show and Match Game '90, but not just puppets. Brett in particular seemed to enjoy sitting next to them and flirted outrageously with Ollie the Dragon. Sweet Ollie swooned after they helped a lady with "__ of the Town" on the Head-to-Head and she gave them appreciative pats. Brett led everyone in a march after she started singing "A Duck Might Be Somebody's Mother" in the next episode.
Finished the night after a shower at Tubi with Hart to Hart. "This Lady Is Murder" because she's Jennifer's identical look-a-like, the snobbish wife of a former mobster who let his partners take the fall for a botched robbery. After they snatch Jennifer to hold her in exchange for the money. Johnathan enlists the reluctant wife to help him get Jennifer back.
