Headed off to work shortly after the CD ended. It was pretty much the same as yesterday, only this time, I was outside pushing carts and gathering the trash the entire afternoon. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. The weather was flat-out stunning, breezy, blue, and in the lower 80's. You couldn't have asked for a nicer day in early August. We were mildly busy during the mid-afternoon, likely due to the beginning of the month. There otherwise isn't much going on. I'm hoping a lot of people went to the Shore this weekend. It's certainly the right weekend for it.
Finished the night with dinner and today's Match Game marathon on YouTube. Brett Somers had a distinct, throaty laugh that she frequently let loose with, even during the wildest goings-on. It could be heard when she sat next to Jack Klugman in mid-1973, and then in 1978 well after their separation. On the last day, Charles switched places with Jack so he could sit next to Brett. Jack pretty much jumped on her, and the others held a mock-wedding for them at the end of the episode.
The other incidents that really tended to set Brett laughing was her feuding with the man who handled the buzzer. In 1974, she had a running gag with complaining about the guy who handled the buzzer. Sometimes, she'd start complaining, and they'd use other sounds, like a cow moo. Other times, they'd run it short, or in bursts, which would annoy her. It was hilarious. It was so frequently, there was even a question about what Brett would hold to make the guy on the buzzer stop making that noise!
Celebrate Brett's birthday earlier in July with this hilarious marathon of her biggest belly laughs!
