Night of the Princesses

Began the morning with breakfast and the first season finale of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. "The Battle of Bright Moon" has begun. Adora initially insists on fighting alone, but Glimmer and Bow quickly remind her that friends work best when they fight together. They and Glimmer's mother Angella hold one last stand against Catra, Hordack, and their corrupted Black Garnet. It takes a concentrated effort - and the arrival of more princesses - to show She-Ra that she's not alone in this fight, and that it takes a lot more than one girl with a sword to defeat the worst evil.

Hurried out to work after the cartoon ended. Ugh. It went no better today. I keep trying to sweep and do carts, and I keep getting called to do 60 other things. I wish they understood that I work best when I can focus on one or two things! I was so happy when I finally got out of there.

Since it's right next door, I had lunch at Applebee's after I changed into regular clothes. They were fairly busy with the lunch hour crowds. In fact, I had to wait to be seated. I had a juicy fried chicken sandwich for lunch with Applebee's tasty salty fries.

Hurried straight to my other job from Applebee's. The kids were creating their own superhero - coloring in "capes" before gluing a popsicle stick as the "superhero" in the center. I loved seeing how creative they got! Later, I joined several young ladies and two boys at the drawing table...where I could also keep an eye on the rowdy crowd working with Legos. That crowd gets too rowdy for me...and too possessive. They build these huge towers and buildings, then get upset when they have to take them apart, forgetting that the Legos aren't theirs...and that's what Legos are for, after all. Two of the girls made a story about a girl who becomes a vampire for a friend who loves horror. I drew the couples dancing in my planned The Four Dancing Princesses fanfic, then showed them photos of Remember WENN on Pinterest so they knew what I was drawing. (They seemed to think Hilary was the prettiest.)

Speaking of WENN, I put that on when I got home. Betty tells Maple (and Scott) about her first day at WENN in "Past Tense, Future Imperfect." Those long words Victor's so fond of end up confusing Betty to the point she thinks he's interested in more than her writing. The fact that Jeff IS interested in more than her writing doesn't help, as Hilary is still jealous, and then Eugenia gets it in her head that Betty is after Mr. Foley, too.

Gertie's writing again in "The Sunset Also Rises." This time, the parody is Sunset Boulevard, with Scott as the writer for a fading radio diva (Hilary). Hilary has her own opinions on that, and the others eventually chime in with their ideas, too. (And I'm not a huge fan of this episode. While watching Hilary scare the heck out of Scott is worth a few chuckles, Sunset Boulevard fits neither the show's tone, nor its time period. AMC should have just let Rupert do his Maltese Falcon spoof - I have no clue why they didn't.)

Switched to The Wild Wild West after WENN ended. "The Night of the Torture Chamber" has James West and Artemis Gordon as the bodyguards for the governor of the state, right before the unveiling of a new statue. Turns out the statue is familiar...because it is the governor. The governor they're guarding is an impostor. Professor Horatio Bolt (Alfred Ryder) intends to use the state Treasury to fund his growing collection of artworks and create a museum for them. He traps the duo and Miss Piecemeal (Sigrid Valdis), who warns them of his treachery, in a flooded torture chamber.

Put on Match Game '76 while eating dinner. Smoky-voiced Evelyn is finally defeated during the second-to-last week of the year. Orson Beans comes in, along with crusty Mary Wickes.

Finished the night with Storybook International at Tubi. A narrator tells the tale of a wide variety of fairy tales from around the world. Started with something I knew well. "Cap O'Rushes" is turned out of her house when she tells her father she loves him as salt loves meat. She hides her hair in a cap made of rushes and her gown under a sack wrap and gets a job at a fine house. She throws off her disguise to dance with the son of the house, finally revealing herself when he gives her a ring. She's reunited with her family when she insists on the meat at her wedding meal not being flavored with salt.
