Hurried off to my 7-hour work day after Mickey ended. I just took my bike, and probably will all week. The weather is too nice for Uber now! In fact, it was downright gorgeous. It was sunny, breezy, and relatively cool but not too hot, probably in the lower 80's. It wasn't even that humid. Gathering carts was a pleasure in that weather. I did sweep and do trash during the first half of the evening, but once the afternoon bagger came in, I spent the rest of the afternoon doing carts. It was busy later in the afternoon with the beginning-of-the-month people, but not in the morning. It was just starting to clear out by the time I left.
Went straight home and into today's Match Game marathon on YouTube. Comedian and character actor Alfie Wise passed away earlier this week. Jovial and adorable Wise was best-known as a close friend of Burt Reynolds who was a genial presence in many of his films, including Hooper, Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, and Stroker Ace. Wise appeared on a couple of weeks of the syndicated run of Match Game. He seemed to have a wonderful time and played rather well, too. He was there the week that Patty Duke turned up in a luxurious brown fur coat she said she got from John Astin. He got to witness Brett's standing ovation when she was the only one who got an answer right for an entire episode, too.
Alfie's last appearance on Match Game was a week on Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. I think this show is really underrated, maybe because I would have been 4-5 years old in 1983-1984 and remember many of the celebrities well. His one week on the show also featured game show host Bill Rafferty, Marcia Wallace, comedy legend Stan Freburg, and Kim Miyori of St. Elsewhere. The champ for most of his week was a sweet lady who ran a construction company and adorably did a little dance whenever she was excited.
Honor one of Burt Reynolds' favorite pals with this wild marathon!
Finished the night with the 1976 TV version of Peter Pan. I go further into this fanciful retelling with Mia Farrow as the Boy Who Won't Grow Up and Danny Kaye as Captain Hook at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
