Day In the Sunshine

Got a quick start this morning with breakfast and more Laff-a-Lympics. I already did the "New York/Turkey" episode, so I skipped ahead to "South America." Huckleberry Hound claims he doesn't know how to use a rope, but he still wins the computerized bull roping contest after Dinky Dalton is caught cheating. Yogi and Boo Boo do even better in the Amazon River rubber raft race. Things get really weird in "Transylvania" when everyone ends up winning the scavenger hunt to find things related to horror icons. Blue Falcon and Dynomutt come in first in a log rolling contest across the Brack Lagoon.

Rushed out to work after that. Spent most of the day sweeping and pushing carts. I did have to sweep under Utzs chips displays that were just moved out of the lobby, but other than that, I just did my usual duties. At least it was a nice day for it. Warmer than yesterday, but still not humid, with a nice breeze.

Oh, and I confirmed my schedule. In good news, three days off in a row, from Sunday through Tuesday, along with Thursday for my next doctor's appointment, and more hours. All three days I do work are early, though, including Saturday. No farm market for me again.

Rushed home, changed, and ate popcorn while watching 1001 Arabian Nights, which is currently free on Amazon Prime. I go further into the only feature-length animated film to feature Mr. Magoo at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.

Finished the night at YouTube with the Saturday Match Game marathon. Dolly Read Martin, the former Playboy centerfold wife of Dick Martin, started off on one of the most delightful weeks of Match Game '75 with Betty White and Allen Ludden. That would be her last appearance until 1979, the year after they got married for the second time, when she sat next to Dick for one of the funniest episodes of that year. They both got to see an overly excited contestant practically drag Gene around. Gene fled behind his question holder while Nipsey Russell grabbed her for a squeeze! "If you won't take advantage of all that jumping," Nipsey told him, "then I will!"

Dolly was a semi-regular throughout the syndicated run, with and without Dick at her side. She was delightful in her own right, with her infectious laugh and her obvious affection for her husband and all of the fun onstage. Charles once tried to help her with her Northern England accent when a proper British butler was a contestant on the show. She and Dick were around for two of the best later PM episodes, the one where Dolly played matchmaker for Debralee Scott and a contestant she obviously had her eye on, and a later one with a sweet redheaded contestant.

Her final appearances on the franchise to date were several weeks of Match Game '91. Dick joined her for at least one of these weeks as well. She had just as much fun here, making jokes with Charles and Marcia Wallace and having just as much fun with Dick as she ever did. (Oh, and incidentally, Dolly is another one who is still with us, but I think she may have retired even before Dick died in 2008.)

This model Brit proves she's no dumb bunny in these hilarious episodes!
