I raced off to work after that and just got there in time. Good thing, too. We were mobbed all afternoon. It's the first Saturday of the month, and a lot of people are probably worried about the bad weather we're supposed to get for a lot of next week. Or maybe they were just trying to avoid the heat. It jumped into the mid-90's again and was hot and killer humid. Not only were the carts overwhelming, but once again, I kept getting pulled inside to put away cold items people didn't want or couldn't afford, including one cart just twenty minutes before I left. I had just enough time to grab a Bubbly Burst that was free with an online coupon today before I rushed out.
Changed, then watched Under the Boardwalk while cooling off. I go further into this animated Beach Party story at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
Worked on the inventory for an hour during the second half of the film. Continued the S titles today, with the 1962 State Fair, The Sting, Summer Magic, Summer of '42, Streets of Fire, and that collection of songs from early talkies I found at Rustic Music in June. Most of the others came from yard sales, except Summer Magic, which I picked up at Goodwill two years ago.
Also, once again, we got hit with rain around this point. In fact, it got so dark, I thought we skipped a few hours! The storm proved to be violent but short-lived. Another one turned up a bit later, but I haven't heard them since early evening.
Finished the night at YouTube with today's Match Game Classics marathon. The Alphabet Stew marathon in June was such a hit, the owner of the channel decided to do a second one. Once again, we see a panelist, a question, or a character whose name corresponded to a letter of the alphabet. For instance, it started off with the only appearance of Anson Williams on The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. Charming country star Bill Anderson made his first appearance in 1976 in the second episode. Sweet contestant Chris Cranston won many hearts during 1977. Patti Deusch's comedy writer husband Donald Ross flirted with a contestant later that year, while Edie McClurg livened up Match Game '90.
Of course, there were other things a letter could refer to. Ugly Edna became Ugly Ulfrea to avoid offending anyone by the time this syndicated episode debuted. Bill Daily joked about his answer getting X-rated in another syndicated episode. Jack Narz was among those trying to figure out "__ Young" in the Audience Match. Eva Gabor's sister Zsa Zsa and her antics came in for frequent jokes on the show, including during a 1976 episode.
You'll have no problems playing with this alphabet soup in this hilarious marathon!
