Morning In the Sunshine

Kicked off my morning with breakfast and more Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers. The Rangers go on "Kiwi's Big Adventure" when they have to get the Ranger Plane back from a group of kiwis who believe it to be their god. Dale only makes things worse when he fakes a broken toe to get sympathy from Gadget and refuses to help with anything.

Work was even quieter than yesterday. I did the outside trash and recycling (twice, actually), shelved items, and gathered baskets, but I was mostly outside with the carts. It was a good day to spend outside, sunny and breezy. The sun was a bit warmer than yesterday, and it was a tiny bit more humid, but nothing out of the ordinary for mid-June in Southern New Jersey. The only thing even remotely unusual that happened today was one of the front-end manager telling me that the codes on the fruit can now ring up normally, without using codes. I took a very short test to see if I understood it (I did), then went back to doing the carts.

It was so lovely, I took the long way home down Nicholson Road. They weren't a whole lot busier than the Acme was, even around the shopping center. It was too nice to be shopping! It's looking more and more like summer now. The tiger lilies are starting to bloom, and the trees that line Atlantic Avenue are fresh and green. There were lots of kids who had just been sprung from school outside tumbling in the grass and playing catch in their yards.

Changed when I got home, then did some quick dusting in the bedroom. Just went around things. I generally only do major cleaning in the spring before Lauren visits, and the fall before the holidays. No one's going to see it besides me, anyway.

Continued with Rescue Rangers while I worked. Monty becomes "A Lad In a Lamp" when a genie in a magic lamp tricks him into changing places with him. Fat Cat wants the lamp to wish for the ability to rule the world, but the last thing he's expecting is a Monty genie to obey his wishes!

The Rangers hope they have the "Ghost of a Chance" to stop Fat Cat from stealing the British crown jewels from the Tower of London. Monty's proud that his ancestor Sir Colby once guarded the jewels, but it turns out Colby's ghost is under a curse - and he's not nearly as heroic as Monty had previously believed.

Monty wagers a "Battle of the Bulge" when his weight problems prompts him to go on a diet...and insist that the other Rangers diet with him. Meanwhile, jewels are vanishing all over the city. The culprits leave only piles of fruit skins as their calling cards. Following them reveal that Fat Cat is using a group of fruit bats to commit crimes in the air. The Rangers have to show the bats what Fat Cat is really up to.

"An Elephant Never Suspects" why peanuts are suddenly disappearing from animal habitats at the local zoo. The other animals blame the elephants, who blame the Rescue Rangers. The Rangers have to find the real culprit, before half the residents of the zoo decide to trample them.

Worked on writing after I finished the dusting. Bob R. Fettman manages to get into his crew's van and take off. Mara, sensing a story, goes after them. Their boss The White Queen orders half of the group to follow Mara, and the other half to return to their new home base in the Hoth Mountains before another blizzard hits. Luke eagerly agrees to follow his crush; Rudy and Charlie join him on the ground on Rudy's electric scooter.

Broke for dinner at 6:30. Had a leftover chicken leg with a spinach-tomato salad with buttermilk dressing, then made a Butter Pecan Cinnamon Swirl Cake after I finished. Started the next disc with "The Luck Stops Here." An inventor is convinced that all his troubles with his machinery are due to bad luck. Gadget gets stuck in his briefcase and ends up trying to help him get his new food-making device ready for an appliance show. She's determined to prove to the inventor that  you make your own luck...despite the inventor's kitty trying to get Gadget out of the way so she can be the only "lucky pet" around.

Played Lego Pirates of the Caribbean after dinner. "Singapore" was a long round in the story mode, and it was even longer in Free Play. There were so many doors and places to go, most of which lead back to the same few places. At least I got 4 more pieces and finished Jack's compass.

Ended the night with more Rescue Rangers. It's "A Case of Stage Blight" when an alligator (who closely resembles the ballet-dancing alligators in Fantasia)  has come up from the sewers, convinced he's ready to make his operatic debut. The Rangers think otherwise, and after they get stuck in his silly play, they try to show him that he's not quite ready for the spotlight.

The aliens are fictional in "Fake Me to Your Leader." Zipper feels blue because he's smaller than the others...at least until he's accidentally doused with a formula that makes him grow monster-sized. Shortly after, a group of "aliens" show up demanding gold to fuel their ship. Gadget smells a chemical-laden rat and snoops around, while the others try to get Zipper down to his right size.

Finished out things with the "Last Train to Cashville." Someone stole a little boy's toy train. The Rangers are on the case...except for Dale, who keeps sleepwalking after staying up all night watching movies. The others have to figure out what Fat Cat wants with the train and keep Dale from sleepwalking himself into trouble.
