No Case Too Small

Kicked off my morning with my first of two early work days in a row. Thankfully, unlike yesterday, there were no problems whatsoever. It wasn't remotely busy. I shelved a half-full cart of returns, gathered baskets and the outside trash, swept the patio, and rounded up carts. I'm glad I got to spend a lot of the morning outside. Even after another bagger came in, we were so quiet, I ended up helping him anyway. The weather was gorgeous, partly sunny, breezy, and warm but not overly so for early June.

It was so nice, I took the long way home after grabbing deodorant and a donut to get change for the laundromat. Nicholson wasn't much busier than the Acme had been. It wasn't even bad around the entrance to the shopping center. I guess everyone took advantage of the nice weekend to head to the shore. I easily dodged the few cars, heading past the lovely greenery over the hill and into Oaklyn.

Changed, then started the first disc of Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers while making a Strawberry-Banana Smoothie for lunch. The third show created for The Disney Afternoon syndicated cartoon block turns the title chipmunks into a pair of detectives in a leather jacket and fedora and Hawaiian shirt, respectively. Their fellow Rangers include Zipper, a little turquoise fly, Monterrey Jack, the cheese-loving Australian mouse, and Gadget, the lovely inventor mouse.

The first episode, "Catteries Not Included," has them overhearing a little girl trying to get the police to find her missing kitten. They take the case...and learn that every cat in town is missing. They discover metal dogs trapping the cats and follow them to mad scientist Professor Nimnal, who intends to use the static electricity from their fur to destroy the town.

"Piratsy Under the Seas" has the Rangers shanghaied by a group of nautical rats after they accidentally end up in a garbage scow. Dale, a consummate slob, loves their lawless ways, but Chip is less amused. Meanwhile, Gadget, Monty, and Zipper try to set up a submarine that will allow them to get into the rats' overturned boat and rescue their friends.

"Three Men and a Booby" catch a mother booby bird trying to find her egg in a supermarket. Turns out her egg was stolen by a collector obsessed with eggs. The Rangers have to find the egg, then keep an eye on the bird that hatches from it.

Headed out to do the laundry around quarter after 2. I picked the right time. It was dead when I arrived. The only noise was the one washer going and track championships on TV. Good thing, because I had a huge load, including towels. I was there for over an hour and saw only two people that whole time.

Worked on writing after I put everything away. Bob Fettson whips out a gun that shoots a net, dragging Harris to the floor. Luke and Leia have more luck. Leia destroys Lom's gun, while Luke flies up and rescues Mara from falling into the chemicals at the last second.

Returned to Rescue Rangers while I made scrambled eggs with cheese, spinach, and tomatoes and turkey bacon for dinner. The Rangers are once again watching after little ones in "Adventures In Squirrelsitting," this time for a squirrel mother whose house they accidentally wrecked. Bink is a little toddler with a big appetite. Her teen sister Tammy has a crush on Chip. In order to prove herself worthy of him, she takes her sister and goes to the factory lair of gangster Fat Cat to retrieve the priceless Maltese Mouse.

Switched to Lego Pirates of the Caribbean after dinner. I had such a hard time figuring out the Free Play for "The Black Pearl Attacks," I gave up and moved elsewhere. Had more luck with the cannibal island. Only got two pieces, but I did get True Pirate.

Finished the night with High School Musical 3: Senior Year in honor of the end of the school year in South Jersey next week. I go more into the final film (to date) in the High School Musical franchise on my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
