Of Pirate Kings and Avengers

I was reading in bed and getting ready to start my day when the phone rang. Yes, it was the Acme. Could I come in at 11? There had been call-outs. I said yes. I didn't really want to, but I desperately need the hours.

That only left me a little over an hour to eat breakfast and get the kitchen cleaned. Watched more Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes while I worked. "Yellowjacket" is a new vigilante who has been attacking members of the Serpent Society. His technology is similar to that of Ant-Man and the Wasp. The Avengers suspect he may have been involved in the explosion at Hank Pym's lab that killed him, but his real identity is more surprising than they thought...

Vision awakens from an upgrade to discover that Tony has become "Emperor Stark" and has taken over the world with the other Avengers. Vision suspects that something isn't quite right, and with the help of Captain American and the Wasp, finds out who the real power is behind Tony's throne.

It's a "Code Red" when red fumes turn all of the Avengers into red Hulks...except for Iron Man, who has his suit to filter out the bad stuff. It's up to Tony to find an antidote and figure out who's behind the attacks on his friends.

Headed out to work around 11:30. I ended up in the register, but at least I had a good reason this time. The woman who called out is the floral manager and occasional cashier, and she never calls out unless she's very sick. Apparently, she'd complained about not feeling well for the past few days. We were on and off busy, and other than a few grouchy customers, there were no real problems. I shelved candy and tried to make the time go faster. Treated myself to a cheese pizza (the Acme's generic frozen brand is on sale for $2.99 this week) and a Dasani Sparkling Water on the way home.

Took the long way home down Nicholson Road. I had to get a least a little sun in today! It was too nice not to. It was gorgeous, not as windy as yesterday and maybe a tad warmer, in the mid-70's. The traffic was already starting to pick up on Nicholson, but it was fine when I went over the tree-lined hill and into Oaklyn.

When I got in, I went right into writing. First Luke, and then Leia burst into the room. Luke uses his Blue Fire crystal sword to deflect the bullets from Bob A. Fettman and his men, while Leia melts their guns with her new flame thrower. Fettman may have one more trick up his sleeve, but there's another member of the Rebel League who hasn't arrived yet...

Broke for dinner at 6:30. Started the second disc of Avengers episodes while I baked that pizza. Captain America learns that you can't escape the past when "The Winter Soldier" comes after him. He enlists Nick Fury to help him figure out who this new menace is...and how the Red Skull and Hydra got back in business.

The Hulk is regarded as "The Deadliest Man Alive" when he seemingly goes haywire after being released from prison. Red Hulk tries to play himself up as a hero in the Hulk's place...but Captain America suspects something isn't quite right about the Red Hulk's sudden desire to do good.

Iron Man calls "New Avengers" when he and the others are sucked into a temporal void by time traveling alien Kang the Conqueror. It'll take the combined efforts of Spider Man, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Thing to take Kang down once and for all.

Moved on to Lego Pirates of the Caribbean after dinner. No problems with "A Spanish Legacy" whatsoever. Jack Sparrow and Privateer Barbosssa first have to make their ship list to one side, then distract the King's men from figuring out what they're up to. It took me a while to figure out how to attack the guard throwing bombs at the end, but other than that, it was actually not that hard. No glitches here either, thank goodness. Even managed to pick up a few more characters afterwards.

Finished the night with another tale of nautical nonsense, The Pirate Movie. I go more into this goofy cult favorite at my Musical Dreams Movie Reviews blog.
